i do. he likes games that have lots of action but when i showed him one of the versus trailers he liked it until he saw the Final Fantasy logo. I was like
I have plenty of friends who hate FF games just because of the way it looks and cuz it's from Japan and since it's form Japan and so is anime and they hate anime. But I don't care to much myself for the series but that's different I actually PLAYED the games.

I know people in real life who hate final fantasy, because they are fantasy games. But the reason they don't like it is because they are idiot americans who think FPS+Football = Life.
Yea american's are idiot's, anyway it's just they don't like people standing there with swords taking turns at hitting each other and they only play it for 20 minutes tops and say this is shit. They think the best stories, characters and plot of like Bioshock are the best, they havn't even played a game were you play it just to see what happens next. ok im finished.
lol..all my friends hate final fantasy....mostly because it a Japanese game and i live a a partially redneck town...no asians what so everr..they also make fun of me for liking itt..screw them right?
99% of all the people I know either just plain don't like it or are just indifferent. One of the huge things though is the ridiculousness of the actions... Giant flying dragon thing flies into outer space and shoot a mile wide beam of energy at the earth only to hit directly onto the area of your enemy creating a massive nuclear sized explosion only to have them stand for a second and have some sort of seizure and then get back into the fight only to be slashed 98 times with every slash causing massive explosions all around their body and then, as if that wasn't enough, get immediately sent into outer space with giant energy balls exploding all around them while getting sent through black holes and through different dimensions and fall straight back onto the same spot they were standing in just about 2 minutes ago... If they couldn't take it they would disappear and the protagonists would do a victory dance and increase their experience points and gain dropped potions on a menu screen.
I know it's a fantasy game, but it's understandably ridiculous in many ways... Even so though I enjoy playing them..

I think people can't comprehend the complex stories that are RPGs in general. So they prefer not to play them!

I don't think that's the case at all. Anyone can understand these stories if they just pay real attention to what you see on the screen. They aren't very complicated. And when you break them down they're actually very basic stories that have been told many many times. It's more the characters and the worlds they are in that make them so interesting. But also, that is to say that everyone plays RPG's for their stories. Not so...
I play JRPGs for the story, music and characters mainly, I always thought random battles were annoying.
WRPGs are different as they usually have shit stories but nice gameplay and freedom.
I love rpg's always have , i have noticed my friends who didn't like the ff series was mostly bc they hated turn based games. Most of my friends really like hack n slash or sports games, games that are more action oriented and take ........... Waaaaaayy less thought than tunr based or any rpg really. I used to here this when i was in HS ; Man turn that gay ass final fantasy shit off man , lets play some madden or halo ........... ( sigh.....)
PS: Seems like when i first started getting into rpg's when i was a little kid w/ Final Fantasy , Zelda(ADV/RPG) , Dragon Warriors , ect... That there were more people who were into them and i could covince to play the game with me either switch off or in some of them the second controller would work like the first and we would just switch off whenever that was a long time ago. Now i have my set of friends who like rpg's like me and those who despise them so its better now bc at least i have some friends to talk about rpg's with, because when i was a kid i played them and never really talked to anyone bout them.

i know only a friend who like final fantasy, here in brazil the people only like GTA, Winning Eleven, Counter Strike, Need for Speed.....
(well, i not have nothing against the people who like this games, i'm only saying)
He's not really my friend, but the only person I know IRL who's into gaming, my cousin's boyfriend, HATES Final Fantasy. Mainly because he can't stand turn-based games. He also thinks they're cliche and overrated.
But he's an idiot, and I don't really like him anyways, so whatever.
Yup i have some friends who hate FF. They don't say it around me cuz they know im a HUge FF fan. I have over 90% the friends love FF series but not as a big fan as me thou.
