Man, I wish I had kept in contact with my friend so I could have told him about Zack's appearance in this game. He's literally crazy about Zack, he'll go ballistic if you say Cloud is better than him . I guess I'll just call my other friend who has contact with him and tell him to pass the message.
I'm disappointed though, currently, an FF7 character gets revealed, it's always FF7, just because it's popular doesn't mean it's the only one people care about (though that's how it is among the FF fans I know, they've only played FF7 and immediately assume it's the best without even playing the others). I wish they would Terra in, though would be impossible because then there would be two characters with the name Terra like in the case of Rikku and Riku, if only they left her name as Tina. Maybe Celes then or Zidane, Cecil like someone mentioned above.
Are you chumps retarded or just jaded? Nomura explictedly stated that he is not going to put any charachters he didn't make into the KH series i.e Amano and Yoshida characters. The only reason why Setzer was in KH2 was because Nomura created Setzer. Vivi, fuck if I know. Nomura probably has no qualms ruining his own characters. At least give him credit for that. You'd all probably be crying like women if he somehow "raped" your favorite "non-Nomura" character like Cecil or Locke, which you already claim with Vivi anyway.
So that means Nomura is limited to Setzer, Shadow, FF7, FF8, FFX, FFX-2, FFXIII, Versus, and Agito.

Seeing Zack in this makes me think wonder if Laguna (from FFVIII) could be put into BBS since, even though he appears in the present, he's played as in the past during FF8, as well as Genesis for Zack's opponent in BBS.

Finally Zack form FFVII will be making his first appearance in the Kingdom Hearts series. And our always busy King Mickey, after much expectation by fans, has also been revealed! He’ll be making quite an appearance in this game!
You’ll have combined attacks with both Zack and the King!
When the heroes go to other worlds they will meet all sorts of charming companions! They will be able to borrow their power through something called a “D-LINK”!
A SOLDIER from FFVII: Zack!
He is an aloof soldier who appears in Olympus Colosseum. He is now in training to make himself stronger!

The King of Disney Castle: King Mickey!
Patrolling the worlds!? He appears in the heavenly “Radient Garden”.
Saving Aqua!
When you’re in trouble, the King will jump in to save you!
King Mickey: Take this girl somewhere safe!
D-LINK Holy Blast
Finish Attack
Linking with the King, Aqua can release the non-element attack “Holy” in lots of bullets of light.
You can even link with your friends during wireless play!
If you connect to the wireless you will be able to use “D-LINK” to link with your friends! Just set them and you’ll be able to use their abilities! Even a low level player would be able to use a high level attack this way!

Take note that you can see Ven fighting with Terra in his armoured form (Last Paragraph above) . This means that there is online play aside from the Mirage Arena.
Well here's the thing. Cloud is Cloud in Kingdom Hearts and following titles. So 10 years ago when BbS takes place Zack would be young. At least that's how I think about it.
I think Nomura once joked about getting sued if he used too many characters that weren't "his".
And Kairi's whole back story was never fully explained so it is fitting that some or most of it is touched upon here.
