I think we definetely need new abilities and I don't think they should the whole leader dies - game over, I though it added challenge. I can't wait to find out the new leveling up system too, and I hope it is actually new.
Thief is the only one that I could understand, but roles =/= jobs so it still wouldn't work well with the others. They could create a "sneaky" role focused on evasion and speed (and steal as one of the abilities), but those stats weren't in FFXIII, so unless they decide to change that I don't see how they can do it. You already have everything you need, really. They can add more abilities but the roles are all taken.
^ I think you are right. Adding evasion enhancement can be part of synergist. Speed is haste. It would be cool to maximize your evasion status that you parry most physical attacks. Oh, maybe a magica evasion enhancement so you can dodge magical attacks... say teleportation?

Just have a question, how many playable characters in battle do you think they'll be this time round? I hope for 6, but do you think they'll just have monsters replace it now. Anyway, as long as the battle system doesn't change too dramatically, I'll be happy
I hope there's some way to save paradigms. Or simply have them auto-saved. It was a pain having to reset your paradigms every time you changed a party member. For example, I have a Light/Hope/Snow paradigm set and later change it to a Light/Hope/ Vanille set and I have to redo it for them. I'd like it that when I switch back to my first group of Light/hope/Snow it saves the same paradigms I had before so I don't have to customize them again.
