Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I just got FFXIII-2 yesterday and am enjoying it so far. However, I seem to be having trouble examining the hidden treasures that Mog uncovers. I'm just on the first time jump (5AF) and have come across three of these hidden things so far. They look like translucent treasure orbs and Mog's bobble glows bright pink when he's near them but I cannot interact with them in any way. Have tried every button (and pretty much every combination of buttons!) but nothing happens... there is no "examine" prompt or anything similar either.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

You press the Right Bumper. The little rectangular button on the right shoulder of the controller, just above the right-side trigger. That's what activates Mog's ability. To be honest, though, I dunno how you could have missed the tutorial since it pops up really quick.

I tried R1, holding, tapping, gently caressing! Nothing worked on that front unfortunately.

Checked my Datalog as well last night and the Tutorial is definitely in there (I also think I remember it coming up when I was wandering around on the beach chasing a cat).

Will play on further tonight and see if the problem solves itself...

You gain/learn the ability in Bresha Ruins when you talk to someone close to the gate.

You'd think you'd realise the fact that "I pressed every button" would mean he did, in fact, press every button. He just wasn't able to do it because the ability hadn't been unlocked for him yet.

Well, he said he'd already encountered a number of the hidden treasure spheres. I only remember finding one before reaching the place where mog explains the ability, so I figured he must've tried that button before reaching the tut and not tried it again afterward.
