As odd as it sounds, I think Ignis is related to Noctis. That's why he talks smack to him.
It makes the most sense. Both Ignis and Gladiolus were childhood friends, yet you don't hear Glad saying any of the shit Ignis said to Noctis, not to mention that only Ignis uses that tone on him. Plus, Noctis is a prince, so realistically, only family would be able to talk to him like that.
I'm not sure Ignis necessarily needs to be related to Noctis in order to have that sort of relationship with him. I mean, you don't really see the son of a duke having the authority to backtalk a prince. If I were to guess I'd say that Ignis' frank manner with Noctis is more a result of the dynamic that formed between them over the years, not to mention Ignis' intended role as Noctis' advisor.
I also don't find the previous theory about Stella and Noctis killing each other very likely simply because I doubt they would have chronicled the entirety of the events in the game all in a trailer. In fact, Noctis facing off with Stella looks like it might happen in his city during the attack that we know comes near the very beginning of the game. This doesn't mean Noctis and Stella can't kill each other later down the line, but I wouldn't take the events of the trailers as proof of it.

Maybe Nomura will go all Hamlet and kill the entire party at the end.

And maybe Ignis is actually his lover, that's why he bitch talks him like that.

I'll leave before I get hurt.
Out. Out now. There's no way a beauty like Ignis would ever pick the second ugliest male in the game, even if he were gay. Noctis is lucky he isn't as ugly as Prompto, but otherwise his luck runs pretty dry.
I'm still sticking with my "Ignis doesn't agree with how Noctis is running things, so he kills him at the end" theory.
Spoiler:
He kills him right after a night of hot, passionate sex.
Spoiler:
*Runs before she's killed*

Man, I sure would like to beat that pussy up- Jake's straightness attempt.

I don't think so,i think Noctis is just cool with stuff like that.
Prompto also spoke to noctis without much respect saying shit like "calm down, your body is not used to your power yet" that sounded to me like "bitch back off already, you are not as strong as you think"
Ignis indeed is talking more shit than the rest of them but thats his job,he grew up learning how to do that.
Being his advisor since a young age and all he had to know how to be a mentor noctis could look up to and show respect to.
You can see in the latest trailer that noctis is impatient and hot headed.
He also overestimated himself so he must have a lot of pride.
Ignis is perfect to put him in his place and i don't think they are related by blood more like very close friendship.

Actually Prompto's comment was more of a general observation and less snooty than Ignis.
Nomura said the Caelum family runs a lot like a modern day Yakuza. Gladiolus in the 2011 trailer has several tattoos around his arm and back. In Japan, a tattoo almost always means you are in the Yakuza. Normal folk typically don't have them. I think he was probably a bodyguard's kid, and got to know Noctis.
As for Ignis, if he is indeed not related to Noctis, then he would have to have been someone important's kid since he's being raised to be a tactician. I don't think you'd just get ANYONE to be in that sort of position in your royal entourage. If he showed more skin, like Gladiolus (), the lack of tattoos or not would mean something.
That certainly would lend some credence to his whole big, shirtless tough-guy demeanor. But, as you mentioned, tattoos are synonymous with the Yakuza, so it may very well be for that reason. Perhaps Noctis & Ignis do too have tattoos; just aren't as clearly visible as Glad's own.
Can't imagine Papa Caelum having one of those big colorful elaborate tattoo on his back...
