I know some of you are fascinated by FFXIII's development, check out those links for an in depth look at how they did the games 9 hours of cutscenes. Apologies if this has already been posted.
At first I was mistakenly thinking, "wow, 9 hours of (pre-rendered) cutscenes!" but the article clarifies that about 6 of the 9 hours are rendered with the game-engine. The workflow diagrams are interesting too.
heck yeah! I love cutscenes. I was hoping FFXIII would not have a shorter story than something like MGS4.
9 hours is insane. Might be too many for some people, but not me! Especially with such beautiful graphics.
Final Fantasy Stories and their characters are my reasons for buying FFs. I don't care about the gameplay......When am I going to care about the gameplay?
y'know, 9 hours of cutscenes is more than enough run-time to make a movie. Srsly! Square Enix should REALLY consider making a whole lot more movies like FF Spirits within & Advent Children. I'm usually more interested in seeing CG Rendered characters in a movie instead of real people. CG graphics are better used as a movie IMO

The in-game cutscene's from FFXIII would also look awesome in a movie. Even from the low-quality streams the great quality and details are gorgous. I can't wait to see this on my HDTV in a few months.
Except that The Spirits Within sucked. I think their storylines work better in games with the player controlling the characters, myself, but I wouldn't argue if they wanted to try some more movies.
Xenosaga's problem was that it was ALL cutscenes... and most of it was just them saying ridiculous stuff like "There's a code 7 in the sector 23, we have a 234.999 chance of probability that the U.T.I.C.Gnosis blahblahblah"...
The movies in FFXIII are atleast coherent and interesting
^Haha, I laughed when I read the previous post. Although I enjoyed Xenosaga's storyline, that is true a lot of the time. I suppose confusing works for me.
Oh yeah, I am thrilled about the 9 hours for FFXIII. Woot!
