Gotta love Kazushige Nojima and his love for all things religion.
EDIT: The crescent moon on his shirt confirms it as that's the official symbol of Islam. It's pronounced "ee-sa" and that's "Jesus" in Arabic. That's what Muslims call him by as he's a prophet in their religion.

I think the crescent moon is just a symbol of how he's like a werewolf when he's a Nobody and uses powers related to the Moon...

Nah, this is Kazushige Nojima we're talking about. The guy threw in a fucking baptism scene at the end of Advent Children? It's definitely a religious reference.

Wouldn't it have been Nomura who came up with it though since it's his series?
I dunno, putting the symbol for Islam with the guy Christian's worship is just asking for trouble.

Well Jesus is a prophet in Islam so there's no harm in throwing a n Islamic symbol on a character that has his Islamic name.
Nomura just designs the characters and creates a rough bio for them but Nojima pens everything about them in relation to the main story he's writing. Nojima is not religious but he's very interested in metaphysics and mysticism so it's natural for him to throw in religious themes in his games.

- CC FFVII

All written by Nojima with character designs by Nomura.
I'm pretty sure Kingdom Hearts is Nomura's creation...
It is but he makes the gameplay, characters and rough outline of a story concept and then Nojima writes a deeper more complex story to tie all Nomura's ideas together.
I've been looking at these for a while and I can't tell, is Lea holding that thing? Is it like a Frisbee or discus kind of reminiscent of his Chakram?
On a side note I think the designs are pretty cool for both of them, especially Lea. I'm still trying to figure out how to pronounce Isa's name.
Actually you pronounce his name as "EYE-suh". The little japanese characters next to his picture shows it. I was calling him "ee-suh" too until I saw that.
I knew Lea would look like that, I took a wild guess at how his appearance would look, and his final design is very close to what I imagined, especially hairwise.

You're looking too deeply into something that's as shallow as a one inch puddle Can't people name characters just because anymore?
I wonder that Saix and Axel are best friends in the past...
