the fact that it made 2nd just goes to show that even if fanboys bitch about linearity and whatever else they bitched about, spewing hate and whatnot, they still buy it =) damn hypocrites.
Final Fantasy XIII: Japanese internet explodes with hate, somehow ends up selling 2 million copies in its first week, becomes the only PS3 game to break 1 million sales in Japan and ends up being voted as the second-best game of 2009 in a popular magazine's poll.
So which is the conspiracy: The hate or the votes?
The game sold just over 1.5 million in it's first week. Inaccurate info FTL.
Anyway, FF is popular so it will or course get votes. The people who actually care about a game and not a deep story are the ones that bashed the game. The rest are FF fans so they will be like the peeps on GameFAQs and refuse to accept that it's shit because they're fanshits.
Think about it? Around 1.9 million people have now bought this game in Japan. Bayonetta barely sold over 300,000. Of course FFXIII will get more votes. Doesn't mean it's the better game, just means more people played it.

FFXIII has dropped to sales like every other FF now. I think it sold 43,000 this week but I'm sure it will eventually crack 2 million. It won't crack it it this week or even the week after but it will eventually.
I just wished this game had legs like the Ninty titles been doing but FFXIII just sold the exact same way past FFs did. Big intro then fizzled out an died. Like guy getting a huge hard on at the start of sex and 2 hours into it he has to reach for the viagra.

1.5 million of the total 1.9 million 4 week sales happened in the first 4 days of release. People bought because of the strength of the brand, not because it has great gameplay. It's a series that sells because the brand is so strong. DQ is same old SNES level gameplay shit and yet got 1st place. Pokemon is a Game Boy remake, if it got higher than XIII I'd laugh.

Mario wii is a completely new game and sold more than FF13.
