Whiplash *glups* u r an admin (1 strict/mean admin frm wat i ve seen T_T lol), urm, since Kit aint replying, do u know how much will it cost 2 run a parallel server to speed up the traffic without taking the site down?
I guess this is what happens when you're one of the best places for information about a game as it's launched. Small price to pay really... you could use the extra loading time to your advantage. Re-introducing myself to my family seems like a good idea, seeing as I haven't had much contact with them since the UK launch. Or you could see how many King Behemoth's you can slay in the time it takes for a page to load.

It isn't as simple as running a parallel server. I'd have to setup an exact mirror of the current server and then setup a Round Robin configuration to make connections alternate between them. It would effectively half the load on the server but it would take an extremely long time to setup and cost double. People have suggested donations in the past but I'm afraid I can't accept them. I don't really want to be responsible for doing work people are paying me for.
making a mirror will b the time consuming 1, however the round robin setup shouldnt take more than 5 mins or so, and im not talking about a donation, perhaps buy alot of gil? lol
No one would spend that much money on Gil a month and I couldn't afford to risk it. Round Robin setups are also notoriously basic. If each alternative user is being sent to a mirror server and that mirror server goes offline, Round Robin wouldn't account for that and it would still send people to the downed server. The only reliable way of doing it is through some sort of load balancing but that would cost even more.
Well I can confirm this place is not laggy due to any issues with the forum, it literally is the sheer amount of people viewing at once.
I am on at 6:00am and things are running very fast
During the day though its much slower. I think once the place has a constant rate of people it will run smoothly. Even this early in the morning there are around 400+ guests lol
