Potential ahoy! I'd like to see what comes of this. If it is just first party titles- and seriously, god forbid- Kratos is about the only thing I'd care about seeing and I'm not really interested.

I wonder if exclusively PlayStation will matter. Characters like Lightning and Nathan Drake haven't made it onto other companies platforms yet, but the likes of Bayonetta and Sora have, so I'm wondering, once again, even if this is what it turns out to be, if that will matter much.

I think it might for some and won't for others.

Are you referring to a different Lightning, or are you just being a silly duffer and forgetting FFXIII's multiplatformness?

I would assume that, regardless of exclusivity, third party characters would require licensing fees of some vague description. Where, to use the comparison of SSB, Sony and Nintendo diverge is that Nintendo has a rich cast of first party characters to draw on. Sony... has some... of varying suitability. Then again, if Phoenix Wright can appear in UMvC3, I don't see why something like Sackboy can't appear and bitchslap people up. Early mascots such as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are now, regrettably, in the possession of other companies. As always with third party games, you do kind of end up at the whim of whoever you've licensed from.

I have to wonder if Sony would even bother. I desperately want them to, though, their first party cast isn't as especially robust as I would like.

Yeah, pretty much, although they certainly have the resources to make something like this possible. I wonder what they had to go through just to get the Play ad with all those characters in it made, although it's been so long since I watched it that the only non-first party character I can actually remember seeing is Lightning. Oh wait, Ezio too (who would also be awesome in a fighter).

DERP, yep, that's me being silly, but I think what affected my judgement this time was people saying that the "To Michael" advert that premiered a while ago showing all those characters etc. was not only a good ad, etc. but an allusion to this game... but yeah, I haven't slept yet, gimme a break, gimme a break, break me off a piece of that kit kat bar.
