The thread for those moments in games that were just fucking epic/blew you away. Obviously there will be spoilers so to be nice to people, put the name of the game you're talking about in bold so it stands out and people can go "NUHUH" and if it's a recent release use the spoiler tags.
Okay, my list in the order they spring to mind.
In Doom the first time you face one of those demons that are like giant brains on spider legs. I hate spiders and, although the Cyber Demon was much tougher, this was the boss I hated to run into the most.
In Bioshock, when you're going into Ryan's office and you see the wall. The wall that makes you realise that 1. you're Ryan's son, and 2. Atlas has been using you.
In Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a tie between fighting off the zombies with Eddie Raja for the first time, or when you're in the bunker, in the dark, and they're swarming you.
Every single thing in God of War and God of War 2 (haven't played 3).
Super Mario Bros 3, the final level - fighting Bowser on his airship with a storm in the background.
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, storming the shores of Normandy in the opening level, explosions and men dying all around you, the beach seemingly endless.
That's all I can think of... for now
EDIT: OH WAIT, can't believe I forgot Batman: Arkham Asylum and your first dose of Scarecrow's fear toxin. The subtle way you don't realise anything's off, but it keeps building and building and then bam, you're in Batman's fractured mind trying to hide from a giant Scarecrow with lighthouse beacon eyes. And the last one too, when you 'die'.

In Heavy Rain the Lizard challenge. It may not be a game in the classic sense, but anyone who's experienced the torment of this moment knows that it stays with you.
In Journey surfing through the desert at sunset. Beautiful.
In Mafia II the ending. There goes your perfect bromance.
In Mass Effect 2 the suicide mission. It was a real shame there was nothing that required the same necessary specialisation in ME3.
In Mass Effect 3 curing the genophage. There are so many incredible moments that it's difficult to choose, but this is definitely one of the best.
That reminds me, Alice: Madness Returns - the battle against the Dollmaker. The whole game building up to it, fighting a giant, monstrous version of the man who killed your family, ruined your life, keeps you drugged out of your brain and kidnaps children to prostitute them under the guise of social welfare and charity.

Punching the Quorrian Admiral in the gut after he tries to blow up the Geth Dreadnought with Shepard and co. inside, "Get the Hell off my ship!" One of the few satisfying moments of that game.
So many boss fights and action challenges in RE4. Eviscerating Los Plagas with Helicopter Support. Battling Saddler, 'It' and El Gigante, and the freak'n village chief. Oh, and chain saw decapitations... those sack headed mother****.

Just Cause 2 has you riding nuclear missiles. When you're not plane-surfing. Or blowing up satellite rockets. Or dragging giant statue heads behind your vehicle. Or attaching a dirtbike to a truck. Or making a portable hotplate fly around a fallen tree branch in a fine example of perpetual motion. In fact, Just Cause 2 is just epic shit out the wazoo.

[20th January 09:05:11] Aurelia I don't speak diva. I speak human being.
Uncharted 2 The train explosion scene and the final boss and subsequent bridge run. Awesome.
Uncharted 3 The cruise ship. Enough said.
Mass Effect 2 The entire suicide mission and the ending boss, especially.
Mass Effect 3 I thought the final missions up to the ending on Earth were pretty epic. Also, the Ardat Yakshi base and the Citadel coup attempt.
Spoiler:
And even though I cried when he died, Thane's death was also pretty powerful. ;_;
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective I know a lot of people here haven't played it, but the entire thing is phenomenal. The last levels from the submarine onward are so extremely amazing that it blew my mind.
Batman: Arkham City Pretty much the entire thing, honestly.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Dat final boss fight.
Shannon's post has reminded me of how epic The Saboteur was in many ways (shooting down zepplins with an AA gun for instance, to say nothing of all the buildings you blew up), but my favourite would have to be driving a motherfuckin' tank through the streets of Paris, shooting Nazis and machine-gun-carrying Gestapo cars, and other tanks. You also could jump from the top of the Eiffel Tower and survive somehow by landing in a fairly shallow pool nearby.

You completely missed my very first paragraph, didn't you?

The final map/battle in Skyrim. It was just fantastic, and the music made it even better.
Catherine's Doom's Bride boss. Also the last one, obviously. It was so intense, I just wish I got a better ending ;_;
Pretty much all the bosses in Bayonetta.
Uncharted 3's Atlantis of the Sands. Mostly because it was just visually stunning. I remember just running around for minutes when I first got to that part just looking at the environment.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective I know a lot of people here haven't played it, but the entire thing is phenomenal. The last levels from the submarine onward are so extremely amazing that it blew my mind.
So true. It's been like a year since I played it and I still laugh thinking about those hilarious cops. What a game.
Mario 64 The bit where you get to jump onto a bird and fly all over the level. And getting the wings for the first time. Such an epic game for the time.
Journey - It's hard just to chose ONE moment or level from this game. Honestly, it's a tie between sand surfing through the sunken city, the lantern room (the level right before the mountain), and the final assent. All of the them are beautifully composed, both in music and gameplay, and (for me) you forget that you're playing a game. You feel that you can find these places and explore and experience them for yourself. By the way, the soundtrack came out today on iTunes. $4.99 for 18 tracks.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - The opening/beginning of the game where you're introduced to Nate, Elena and Sully is top for me. Mostly because you get an excellent feel for the characters with little information given on them. After that it's Elena busting Nate out.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Again, the beginning of the game. Waking up to find out your on a train car dangling over the cliff on a mountain with a blizzard starting up is an intense way of starting out a game. And the ending still sticks with me too.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Seeing how Sully and Nate met, followed very closely by Nate and Elena's reunion after the cruise ship.
Heavy Rain - When you find out who actually is the Origami Killer. The first time it's almost like a punch to the gut, but when you replay the game, you're trying to find all of the signs and clues you may have missed.
Ico -
Spoiler:
When Yorda is holding onto Ico with what little strength she has left. I remember tearing up during that whole scene and crying 'No!' as the Dark Queen appeared behind Yorda.
Shadow of the Colossus - That ending. I am not ashamed to admit that I cried during it. I remember holding my breath as the cutscene after defeating the last Colossus began and then ...
Spoiler:
tearing up as Wander was slowly taken over by Dormin. I remember (and I still do to some extent) tears starting to fall when Wander's body was completely taken over by Dormin and then fighting not to be sucked into the sealing pool at the end. Then the waterworks come into full effect when I watch that final cutscene of Mono waking up.
I swear to god, it's like a rusty knife being stabbed into your gut and twisted throughout that ending.

Kingdom Hearts - When Destiny Islands is being flooded by Heartless, and you're just like, Rikuuuu, and Riku is all like, standing there, barely even reaching, and then DARKNESS. And then you fight off that huge Darkside, just to lose your home.

That reminds me, the ending of Kingdom Hearts 2 was pretty awesome. I remember thinking "Holy shit, what was in that note I have to know omg omg omg ;__;". And the whole thing with Sora and Riku finally being reunited with Kairi was just <3. And the same thing with Roxas and Namine, of course.
The Catherine vs Katherine fight and the reveal of Thomas Mutton. Particularly given how they'd subtly stuck his quotes in with all the quotes from non-fictional people. I actually Googled him a chapter before the reveal and couldn't understand why nothing came up.
SSX - the Kilimanjaro descent. Pitch black except for a weak headlamp and the orange light of certain death ahead of you, with a few flares marking a safe passage, plus the music all combined to give the feeling of descending through hell.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All
All in all it's the weakest entry in the series, but I forgive all of its mediocrity solely because of the last case. It starts off fairly typical; someone's dead, an innocent guy's charged, you protect him... but then it turns out your client isn't innocent after all. But his accomplice is threatening to kill your friend if you don't win him an aquital. The next few hours are some of the most intense I've ever played in a game and literally had me on the edge of the seat, playing well into the next morning as I couldn't put the DS down, and it's easily the best part of the entire franchise.

Yes, this is true that it was 100% epic. However, the last case in Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations is better.
Woman is found impaled on a sword, your ex-fiancé's sister is charged with the murder. You find out exactly who the dead woman is, and then you realize that she wasn't even killed by the sword, but by another weapon in a completely different location. To top it all off, your assistant and best friend has gone missing. The ending to this case just completely blows your mind, and it is by far my favorite case in the entire series, hands down.
