Nice throwback! The classic FF's don't get enough credit these days. Very much appreciated.
The resemblance is clear. Not only does Vanille's summon resemble Magitek armor, but Terra and Vanille also seem to be making similar poses. Coincidence or intended?

Exactly, whether it started out intentional or not, after a certain point, they clearly just decided to roll with it.
they do look alittle bit similar but is it me or did they like to stick with dog shaped summons, like it has hind legs, it lets you ride him, i don't know it just reminds me of a dog but it doesn't matter because no matter what this game is going to be amazing

Gestalt...really. Its clearly a recycled terminology of Emperor Gestahl from FFVI, actually making a refferance to(as mentioned) Magitek Armor.
I personally don't get why, in the newer FFs, each character has 1 distinct Summon creature.
Hope's Summon(IF I saw that correctly) looks like a robot as well...I was on the verge of thinking it might be Alexander, but then that's be a toned-down version considering Alexander was a holy castle....thing. I'm making an emphesis on his size compared to this summon.
FFXIII is futuristic, kind of like VIII...and the end of VII, but it actually lookes like its got mixed elements from X, XI and XII, too; visible in the environments and creatures as well.
